That Little Window of Learning

I really miss waking up my 10-year-old in the morning for school. Miss that waving off goodbye with that sparkling smile on her face showed all that excitement of meeting friends at school.

That little one step out from comfortable zone of home to meet all friends who are big part of her daily routine.

That chorus sound of “GOOOOOD MORNINGGGGG”, those corridor run in lunchtime, that sip of water from the water bottle, getting those star in the notebook from the teacher. Singing a prayer in the assembly with one eye open and finally waving goodbye again to friends to meet with that same level of energy and excitement. The overall experience of going to school was a full package of learning through books, friends, getting social with talks, or sharing lunches.

That smile on her face when mom or dad are there on gate to pick them up at the end of the school.

Now here we are in the times of pandemic where online classes has taken over the class room learning at school.

In my own way, I call these online classes “a little window of learning” and my question is does little one will get all that experience from a little window of learning?

Teachers are giving their best through online classes in these tough times of pandemic. It must be altogether a different experience for them as well.

Homeschooling ideas for preschoolers:

It may be fine for those children who are having experience of going to school, but for my little ones who have never been to school, I would rather choose homeschooling for her, over introducing her to the online classes.

I’ll prefer for my kid is to give her my time. Giving her a playtime where she can learn with her creativity and can create her own stories. We have the following homeschooling ideas, such as we may:

  • Introduce them to shapes and colors
  • Play a game of color matching.
  • Ask them to search for some real-time shapes in the home.
  • Make them part of preparing meals with you.
  • Make them water plants or just feel that wet soil.
  • Involve them in cleaning activities.
  • Let them make their bed.
  • Read stories with them.
  • #learnthroughnature #learnthroughplay are the best ways to introduce them to new things at an early age.
Homeschooling Ideas

What she can learn from a simple Montessori activity like pouring water from one glass to another is far better than listening or watching videos online.

There are many things in this pandemic situation, which we cant do for our child but by just sitting in front of that little window for few hours what they are going to learn.

Though we all are waiting for the old good time to come back, where we can see our kids without covering their smiles under the mask and learn freely in a school environment.

Meanwhile what they need is our time and attention.

I am a mother of two and always thought of giving a good nature-friendly learning environment for homeschooling my kids. In that journey with step-by-step learning saw the magic of open-ended play/toys. Open-ended play/toys give a child to explore a vast imagination and creativity because open-ended toys don't come with an instruction manual. In addition to that, It allows children to be creative, role play, problem-solve, take risks, learn through trials and error, independent play, motor skill, leadership and so much more!! Our open-ended toys are nonbattery operated and made with nature-friendly materials. We are aware that we are taking from nature in the manufacturing process of our toys, hence we pledge to give nature in return by planting a sapling with the sale of each toy.
